Kiev-born LIUDMYLA MONASTYRSKA was soloist at Taras Shevchenko National Opera Kiev for many years, where she made her debut in 1996 as Tatiana in Eugene Onegin before she started her international career singing the title role of Tosca at Deutsche Oper Berlin in 2010. Since then, she has been performing at several major opera houses, including Opéra national de Paris, the Metropolitan Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Royal Opera House Covent Garden and Bayerische Staatsoper. Her repertoire includes Abigaille (Nabucco), Elisabeth of Valois (Don Carlo), Lady Macbeth (Macbeth), Santuzza (Cavalleria rusticana) and Donna Leonora (La forza del destino), as well as the title role in Aida. In the near future, she will be singing Tosca at Deutsche Oper Berlin and at Liceu, Leonora in Il Trovatore at Berliner Staatsoper, Leonora in Forza del destino at ROH Covent Garden. Most recently she has performed Manon Lescaut at Liceu, Norma in Houston, Aida in Madrid, Abigaille at the Met, Bayerische Staatsoper, in Berlin and in Los Angeles. At Vienna State Opera, she made her debut in 2016 with the role of Aida.
