Jacques Giovanangeli
Jacques Giovanangeli honed his skills in particular as Head of Lighting Department at the Paris Opera (Palais Garnier). After light designs for works such as Purcellʼs Dido and Aeneas, Vivaldiʼs Juditha triumphans, Rossiniʼs L’italiana in Algeri und Hervéʼs Le petit Faust, he became enthusiastic about the ballets of Rudolf Nureyev and Pierre Lacotte. The latter commissioned him to adapt the lighting of his most important works such as La Sylphide, Paquita and Coppélia. In 2015, he was also responsible for the lighting of Lacotteʼs Marco Spada at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. For the Vienna State Ballet, Jacques Giovanangeli has already realized the lighting designs of Nureyevʼs The Nutcracker and Raymonda, Legrisʼ Sylvia as well as Lacotteʼs La Sylphide and Coppélia which will be revived at the Volksoper Wien in the 2023/24 season.
