Ivor Bolton
Ivor Bolton is one of the most highly regarded conductors in the field of Baroque and Classical repertoire. However, his musical activities are far more diverse. For example, with the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, where he served as chief conductor for 12 years, he recorded a highly acclaimed and press-lauded series of Bruckner symphonies.
Since 2015, he has been the Music Director of the Teatro Real in Madrid, where he conducted, among others, the production of Billy Budd, which was awarded by the magazine Opernwelt. With the Sinfonieorchester Basel, where he has been chief conductor since autumn 2016, he recorded a series of works by Gabriel Fauré. Ivor Bolton is also Honorary Conductor of the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg and regularly performs with them at the Salzburg Festival and on tours. Additionally, he is the chief conductor of the Dresden Festival Orchestra and enjoys a close relationship with the Bavarian State Opera, where he has led a number of new productions since 1994.
In 2024, he was awarded the title of Commander of the British Empire by the British royal family for his exceptional services to music. He made his debut at the Vienna State Opera in 2012.
