Gyeongtaek Lee

South Korean pianist Gyeongtaek Lee won the Prix de Mélodie in 2021 with soprano Flore Van Meerssche at the International Competition of the Centre international Nadia et Lili Boulanger in Paris. He was also awarded scholarships from the International Festivals LIEDBasel and Leeds Lieder in 2022. In 2023, he won third prize at the International Helmut Deutsch Lied Competition, as well as the Elise Meyer Prize for Vocal Accompaniment and the Robert Ellis Crawford Prize for Song Art.

During the 2023/24 season, he was a fellow at the Académie Orsay-Royaumont, where he regularly performed at the Musée d'Orsay and recorded a live album for the French label B-Records. He also gave a concert with bass-baritone Jeeyoung Lim on the French national radio station France Musique.

Throughout the 2023/24 season, he served as a guest repetiteur at the Bayerische Staatsoper, the Wiener Staatsoper, and the Kammeroper München, and participated in a performance of Schubert lieder as part of Lee Ming Wei's participatory exhibition at the Münchener Staatsmuseum Villa Stuck. He studied for his Master’s in Liedgestaltung with Christian Gerhaher, Gerold Huber, and Donald Sulzen at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München, completed his Konzertexamen Liedgestaltung with Burkhard Kehring at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg, and pursued additional studies with Markus Hadulla at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien.

From the 2024/25 season, he will be a member of the Opernstudio at the Vienna State Opera.
