Ella Persson
Ella Persson was born in Stockholm and first attended the Royal Swedish Ballet School in her hometown. In 2012/13 she moved to the John Cranko School in Stuttgart, then to the Vaganova Ballet Academy in St. Petersburg. After completing her training, she was engaged as second soloist at the Mikhailovsky Theatre, where she danced from 2015 to 2022. In 2019, she also performed as a guest with NOVAT (Novosibirsk State Opera and Ballet). She has participated in numerous galas at the Mariinsky and Mikhailovsky Theatres, as well as the Royal Ballet Gala in Tallinn in 2018. Her large repertoire includes the title roles in Giselle, La Sylphide and Cinderella, Phrygia in Spartacus, Street Dancer in Don Quixote, Jacinta and Pas de six in Laurencia, as well as soloist roles in ballets by Nacho Duato and Ivan Vasiliev. Her notable partners include Artem Ovcharenko, Ivan Vasiliev, Igor Tsvirko, Xander Paris, Timur Askerov, Leonid Sarafanov and Ivan Zaitsev. Ella Persson was awarded the 3rd prize at the 2011 Stora Daldansen Nordic-Baltic Ballet Competition, received the 2012 Vaganova Ballet Academy Masterclass Award, and the Carina Ari (2013–2015) and Ellen Rasch (2017) scholarships.
Since the 2023/24 season, Ella Persson has been a member of the Corps de ballet of the Vienna State Ballet. She has appeared as the Queen in Rudolf Nureyevʼs Swan Lake, in Nureyevʼs Don Quixote, Elena Tchernichovaʼs Giselle, Pierre Lacotteʼs Coppélia, Martin Schläpferʼs The Sleeping Beauty as well as in George Balanchineʼs Symphony in C and the Brahms-Schoenberg Quartet, among others.
