The British bass Brindley Sherrat is one of the most respected singers of our time. He is admired for his extraordinary voice and stage presence and is known worldwide for roles such as Claggart (Billy Budd), Gurnemanz (Parsifal), Hunding (Die Walküre), and Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte), a role he has performed over a hundred times. Highlights of the 2024/25 season include his role debut as Daland in The Flying Dutchman at the Norwegian National Opera, Claggart at the Vienna State Opera, Wurm in Luisa Miller at the Hamburg State Opera, Cadmus & Somnus in Semele at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées and the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Baron Ochs in Der Rosenkavalier at the Bavarian State Opera, and Gurnemanz in Parsifal at the Tyrolean Festival Erl. Recently, he has appeared as Rocco (Fidelio) at the Bavarian State Opera and as Sarastro at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, as well as in London and Paris, and as the Doctor (Wozzeck) at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and in Aix-en-Provence. He made his debut at the Vienna State Opera in 2013 as Sarastro.
