Andrei Maksimov

The Russian baritone Andrei Maksimov graduated from the St. Petersburg Conservatory in 2012, where he performed roles such as Onegin (Eugene Onegin), Robert (Iolanta), Guglielmo (Così fan tutte), Ferdinand (The Duenna), and Germont (La Traviata). During his studies, Andrei became a soloist at the Mariinsky Theatre's Young Singers Academy, where he performed in chamber concerts and contemporary operas, portraying roles like Fiorello (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Flemish Deputy (Don Carlo), and the title role in Brundibar.

In 2019, Andrei studied in Italy at the Academy of Teatro Comunale Modena under the guidance of M. Devia, N. Martinucci, and M. Pertusi, and performed Il Barone di Trombonok (Il viaggio a Reims) at the XXXI Accademia Rossiniana »Alberto Zedda«. In 2021 and 2022, he participated in the Berlin Opera Academy in Switzerland and Berlin, where he took on the role of Eisenstein (Die Fledermaus). That same year, he won third prize and the audience prize at the 8th George Enescu Singing Competition (Paris).

During the 22/23 season, he was a soloist at the Opera Studio of the Opéra National du Rhin, performing in numerous concerts and portraying roles such as Don Magnifico (La Cenerentola, French version), Captain, Hermann Augustus (Candide), and Mandarin (Turandot). He was a finalist in the Ningbo Opera Competition 2023 (Ningbo, China), and winner of the first prize at the Hans Staud Music Prize 2023 (Vienna). In 2023, Andrei completed his Master's degree in opera at the University of the Arts Bern with distinction and will continue his artistic development as a member of the Vienna State Opera's Opera Studio from the 2024/25 season onwards.
