Cecilia Bartoli

CECILIA BARTOLI has become a role model for an entire generation of young musicians. However, it is not only her virtuoso vocal technique, her touching musicality or her ravishing stage presence that make her the ideal of a modern opera singer, but also her ability to bring together art and concept, creativity and research, passion and commitment. She made her debut in 1987 as Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia) in her native Rome. What followed is an unparalleled career: in short succession she came to the attention of Daniel Barenboim, Herbert von Karajan and Nikolaus Harnoncourt. Since then she has accepted invitations from the Salzburg Festival, the Met, the ROH Covent Garden, Zurich, among others, as well as concert promoters from all over Europe, the USA, Asia and Australia. Cecilia Bartoli has been artistic director of the Salzburg Whitsun Festival and designated director of the Opéra de Monte-Carlo since 2012. It was her idea to launch Les Musiciens du Prince - Monaco and she received generous support from the Princely House of Monaco.
