Iliana Chivarova
Iliana Chivarova was born in Sofia (Bulgaria) and educated at the Ballet School of Wiener Staatsoper. In 2004 she became a member of the Wiener Staatsopernballett, in 2005 she was awarded the gold medal at the Concours International de Danse Classique de Biarritz. In 2010 she was appointed demi-soloist of the Vienna State Ballet.
Her repertoire comprises Moyna, Zulma and Giselle's mother Berthe in Elena Tschernischova's »Giselle«, Madame Larina in John Cranko's »Onegin«, gipsy in Rudolf Nureyev’s »Don Quixote«, two snowflakes and Pastorale in Nureyev’s »The Nutcracker«, big swan and Polish Dance (soloist) in Nureyev’s »Swan Lake«, solo shadow in Vladimir Malakhov's »La Bayadère«, Fairy of Modesty in Peter Wright's »The Sleeping Beauty«, Empress Elisabeth and Princess Louise in Kenneth MacMillan's »Mayerling«, Lise's friend in Frederick Ashton's »La Fille mal gardée«, Nanina in John Neumeierʼs » Lady of the camellias« and roles in Serge Lifar's »Suite en blanc«, Jerome Robbins' »The Concert« and »The Four Seasons«, Jiří Kylián's »Six Dances«, William Forsythe's »The Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude«, Jiří Bubeníček's »Le Souffle de l’esprit«, Stephan Thoss' »Bluebeard's Secret«, George Balanchine's »Symphony in C«, Rudolf Nureyev’s »Raymonda«, Paul Taylor's »Promethean Fire«, Hans van Manenʼs »Concertante«, Michel Fokineʼs »Les Sylphides« as well as Martin Schläpfer's world premieres of »4«, »Sinfonie Nr. 15«, »The Seasons« and »The Sleeping Beauty« (Diamond variation). Furthermore, she created roles in Jorma Elos »A Midsummer Night’s Dream « and András Lukács’ »Movements to Stravinsky«.
For »Plattform Choreographie« of the Vienna State Ballet 2021/22 and 2022/23 Iliana Chivarova designed the costumes for Trevor Hayden's »Lost & Found« as well as »Wanted« and also danced in the latter herself.
