About the Tanzpodium

Short Summary

In his last season as director of the Vienna State Ballet, Martin Schläpfer is once again placing a strong emphasis on contemporary ballet.

He himself says goodbye to his ensemble with a new choreography to Tchaikovsky’s 6th Symphony and choreographs the opening of the Vienna Opera Ball 2025. Furthermore, he has invited four choreographers of the younger generation to create the two premieres of the Vienna State Ballet at the Volksoper: Andreas Heise, Alessandra Corti, Louis Stiens and Martin Chaix. In the dance panel Creations – the repertoire of tomorrow?, we will discuss the importance of creative processes for an ensemble, the safeguarding of ballet art for the present day through new works as well as current material, aesthetics and body images on the ballet stage.

The discussion will be held in German.
